    Study of a Lady in Red, pastel and charcoal pencil on paper by Charles Gates Sheldon (1889 - 1960). Sheldon is an illustrator best known for his pin-ups, Hollywood, and fashion drawings for magazines in the 1920s and 1930s. 19 x 24.75 inches and matted to an overall size of 30 x 24 inches. Taped to backing on the top edge with archival tape; scattered tears on the extreme edges (not seen unless taken out of mat); toning around image; scattered areas of light foxing; image is slightly smudged. From the Estate of Charles Martignette, collector, historian, and author of The Great American Pin-Up. Authenticity guaranteed for life by Collector's Shangri-La.
