Tales of Suspense #16 Page 1 Splash Page Original Art by Don Heck

This Don Heck (1925 - 1995) "Nightmare" title splash from 1961 is a Pre-Hero Marvel stunner. Heck is known for his crisp, illustrative style, but here he presents a surreal, almost psychedelic scene of psychological horror. Along with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, Heck would establish the new "Marvel Age" of superhero comics right after this piece was drawn. This piece not only pre-dates Heck's work on the first Iron Man story from Tales of Suspense #39 by nearly 2 years, but it even predates the release of Fantastic Four #1 by over 6 months! This is large twice-up art has an image area of approximately 12" x 18". Interest in the Marvel Pre-Hero era is growing and original spalsh page art is becoming harder to come by. Excellent condition. Authenticity guaranteed for life by Collector's Shangri-La.
