Walt Disney's Mickey's Gala Premiere (1933) Original Production Drawing
This original final animation drawing of Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow and a crowd of movie-goers was created by a Disney Studio animator in production of the animated cartoon directed by Burt Gillett, and a cel painting was made directly from it. Mickey Mouse, Minnie and Hollywood's top stars gather at Grauman's Chinese Theatre for the premiere of the Disney stars' new cartoon, Galloping Romance. After the celebrities enter the theatre, the crowd rushes in with Clarabelle and Horace in the lead. The animator wrote the studio designation "99" at lower right to indicate this original's place in the scene. Pencil on untrimmed animation sheet, image size: 7 x 7.25 inches. The paper has darkened with age; there is light handling; bit of discoloration at edges: Fine condition. Provenance Howard Lowery Gallery. Authenticity guaranteed for life by Collector's Shangri-La.
