Quick Overview

Vernon Greene - Shadow Daily Original Comic Strip Art (Ledger Syndicate, undated, D-47). The Shadow, aka Kent Allard, Lamont Cranston, George Clarendon, and Compton Moore, first appeared in the February, 1929 pulp, Fame and Fortune, as a green-caped vigilante. The newspaper version of The Shadow was close to the original conception of the pulps, both in mood and execution and had a four-year run from 1938-42. The artist Vernon Greene (1908-1965) was also well known for his artwork on Bringing Up Father. Our hero, The Shadow, appears in three action-packed panels and uses his famous wits against his foes. You can practically hear Orson Welles' chilling radio voice as you read the dialogue! The image area is 25 x 5.5 inches. In Very Good condition with a slight tear to the final panel and adhesive remnants on the back. COA
